Airplane Hangar - Tyler Pounds Field

My daughter, Holly Yates, married Chad Kidd on Oct. 22, 2011. I had the task of planning a wedding for the 400 guests. Deciding on food was one of the most important decisions. I knew that this is one of the details that people would remember from the reception. I got several recommendations from friends to get a bid from Traditions. Holly and I met with Jason and Kathy and they suggested a menu with several different choices that fit our budget perfectly. The buffet line was set up in an airplane hanger in at Tyler Pounds along with beautifully designed appetizer tables. The appetizers consisted of fruits, vegetables, crackers and dips. We also had a carving station with roast beef along with another chicken choice. We got so many compliments on the food from guests. But, the best part was the service. The Traditions crew came in and set up everything and cleaned up quickly and thoroughly so that I did not have to worry about anything. The china was beautiful and the glasses and real silverware added elegance to the event. I can say we are very pleased with the food, service, and price from Traditions. I would highly recommend them.

The Resort

The Resort at Lake Tyler provided a beautiful backdrop for the wedding reception of Kim Appel and Dr. James Turner.  Guests enjoyed the lake view from the Lodge as well as dining under the stars on the patio.  The gracious, warm ceremony was matched perfectly by the reception menu – an elegant take on salads, soup, and sandwiches.  Family and friends dined on fresh fruit, Pasta Salad with Olives and Bell Peppers, Romaine Salad Bar, Tomato Florentine and Green Chili Chicken Soup served in bread bowls, Turkey Sandwiches with Pineapple Mango Mayo on Hoagie Bread, Roast Beef on Croissants, Chicken Fajita Wraps and Club Wraps.  The delicious meal was followed by a dessert buffet of Chocolate Truffles, Mini Apple Crumb Cakes, Mini Tartlets, Mississippi Mud Brownies, and assorted gourmet cookies as well as made-to-order ice cream desserts.  The chilly December air was tempered by the warm ambiance of the decorations, food, music, and the casual elegance of the bride and groom.

Tyler Woman’s Building

There's nothing more lovely than an outdoor garden wedding.  Thousands of twinkle lights filled the trees as a 5-piece brass ensemble played from an upstairs balcony.  But the music stopped to allow guests to hear the sounds as Meredith Warren and her father arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage.  The graceful rooms of the Woman's Building provided the perfect setting for Meredith's reception.  Guests mingled as they visited our various Chef Action Stations – including a Pasta Bar with chicken and shrimp, grilled vegetables, 3 types of pasta and 2 sauces; a Carving Station with Pork Roast, rolls, and two dipping sauces; and Meredith's favorite – the chocolate fountains!  The bride and groom and their guests enjoyed the fruit and other treats dipped into white or milk chocolate fountains.  The dream reception ended as the couple made their farewell through a canopy of sparklers!

The Resort at Lake Tyler

"Our Story" – from Lori Sims Cooper.  We were planning to wed on the beach in Galveston, Texas until Hurricane Ike hit six days before our wedding, ruining all our plans.  We had to find a florist, caterer, and a venue that would match our custom-made beach bridesmaids' dresses.  We really wanted to be married in front of water, so a friend suggested the Resort.  We went to see it and booked it immediately!  Our wedding was more beautiful at the Resort than it ever would have been on the beach.  We loved everything about our day – from the ceremony outside on the deck to the awesome reception inside where we danced the night away.  It was perfect and we are constantly recommending Traditions and the Resort to others!

The Resort at Lake Tyler is the perfect location for weddings, corporate meetings, church retreats, etc. This is the same site that the HGTV executives hand picked for their site of the 2005 Dream Home. The Resort facility was modeled after the Dream Home. It's on a peninsula in the center of Lake Tyler with one of the best views in the United States. Weddings can be held indoors, staged on one of the expansive patios, or using the romantic setting of the gazebo. The Lodge building offers indoor seating for 150 and an outdoor patio with additional seating for 150. They even offer cabins for overnight guests!

All Saints Episcopal School

Guests gathered at the Grand Tent on Mewbourne Field at All Saints Episcopal School for the black tie event "Off the Vine Wine Gala and Auction" benefitting All Saints and the East Texas Crisis Center. Our Three-Course Meal began with Asparagus Salad and Jumbo Lump Crabmeat with Hazelnuts followed by Kobe Beef Strip Loin, Horseradish Crusted Yukon Potatoes, Chanterelle Mushrooms and Sweet Peas, with a Cabernet Stock Reduction. Topping it all off was a Honey Roasted Apricot Tart and Brie Cream with Pinot Noir Glaze. Each course was accompanied by the ideal wine pairing for the food served. Afterward, the guests participated in the Live Auction supporting these two fabulous organizations!

It was a glamorous night at the Moulin Rouge for the 2008 Women's Symphony League Ball, held at Harvey Hall.  During the Cocktail Hour, we set up an elaborate Hors D'Oeuvres Buffet complete with shrimp, fruit and cheese, vegetables, and hot appetizers.  Later, eight hundred guests dined on Salade Verte a la Vinaigrette, Filet de Boeuf en Sauce Bearnaise, Pommes Bonnottes Au Four, and Tomate Mouttardee en Croute de Comte, followed by Chocolate Creme Brulee w/Fresh Raspberries.  In the words of the event organizer, "I have heard nothing but rave reviews.  I am so glad I followed my heart and once again went with you for catering!  Thanks for making us all look good!"
